This Alternative Spring Break experience March 13-17, 2023, is open to all individuals connected to a UKirk Network college or campus ministry. Space is limited, and will be granted on a first-come, first served basis. The cost of the Pilgrimage is $200 per person, and includes room & board, transportation to and from important Civil Rights sites in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma, Alabama.
Student and leader participants will travel together to important historical sites, and will be led by professional guides to explore not only the history of the Civil Rights movement, but also the lasting effects and how they, as a person of faith, can advocate for a more just and equitable future. The group will have both a guided process for debriefing, as well as good ol’ free time in the evenings.
UKirk is grateful for the partnership with Living River Retreat Center in Montevallo, AL, for co-hosting this event. Participants should plan to arrive at Living River by 5:30 pm on Monday, March 13, 2023. The Pilgrimage will conclude by Noon on Friday, March 17th, 2023. The cost is $200 a person, and includes housing and meals, as well as transportation to and from pilgrimage sites. Registration deadline is Friday, February 17th, 2023.
