Soul Shop for Campus Ministry Leaders Two-Day Training

The UKirk Collegiate Ministries Association and the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Office of Christian Formation are hosting a two-day Soul Shop for Campus Ministry Leaders training on Tuesday, December 13th (9am to 4pm) and Wednesday, December 14th (9am – Noon), designed to equip campus ministry leaders and those who work with young adults ages 17-25 to minister to those impacted by suicide. Cost is $50, and includes housing for UKirk Network campus ministry leaders at the Springhill Retreat Center in Richardson, Texas, for Monday night, Dec. 12th, and Tuesday night, December 13th. Travel to and from the event will be the responsibility of the participant.
Rev. Nathan Wheeler, author of A Faith of Their Own: A Theological Field Guide for Youth Ministry, and Coordinator for Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be leading our training. The Tuesday, December 13th from 9am-4pm workshop will be the 8-hour Soul Shop for Leaders training, and will engage the question of how to cultivate a soul-safe culture within your faith community or congregation. This one-day workshop is open to all faith leaders. The cost is $35 a person, and includes materials and lunch.
The workshop on Wednesday, December 14th from 9am – Noon is only open to campus ministry leaders, and will be a time for them to specifically focus on the mental health challenges facing college students, and how to create communities of care and support for all who have been impacted by suicide.
