Psalm 130:1-8

1   Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD.
2       Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications!

3   If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?
4   But there is forgiveness with you,
so that you may be revered.

5   I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
6   my soul waits for the Lord
more than those who watch for the morning,
more than those who watch for the morning.

7   O Israel, hope in the LORD!
For with the LORD there is steadfast love,
and with him is great power to redeem.
8   It is he who will redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.

Prayer:

God, it seems sometimes like no matter how hard I study or work on a something, it’s not enough. There are days when no matter how hard I try to fix the stuff I’ve screwed up, it feels like there’s no hope.

When I feel this way, please remind me that there is forgiveness with you. That your love and grace free me from what I have done, and even what I’ve left undone. You hear all that I tell you and when I can’t find the right words, you know my heart, mind and soul. You take my broken pieces and give me back a clean slate to start again.

From now through finals, when I get frustrated, overwhelmed, tired, or discouraged, help me to pause, take a deep breath and center myself again in your presence. In those moments surround me with your steadfast love and help me start again with that clean slate of grace. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
