Opportunities for Students Exploring a Call to Service or Ministry

Westminster Residency in Church Vocation, Dayton, OH

Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Ohio, is excited to offer an eleven-month opportunity beginning in September for recent college graduates exploring a possible call to professional church service. This program has two distinctive tracks for potential candidates to apply for: Music or Mission.  Applicants will be encouraged to pick a focused ministry area in addition to active participation in the current ministries of Westminster. Residents will receive housing, a salary; a health benefits package, and reimbursement for ministry expenses.

PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer Program

The Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program is an ecumenical, faith-based year of service for young people (ages 19–30) in sites across the United States and around the world. YAVs accompany local agencies working to address root causes of poverty and reconciliation. Alongside this work, volunteers explore the meaning of their Christian faith and accountability to their neighbors in the community with peers and mentors. Benefits during the year of service, in-person, include a regular stipend, housing, all program-related transportation costs covered, and student-loan assistance.

YAV’s can serve domestically in Chinook, Louisville, New Orleans, and New York City. Internationally, they can serve in Liberia, the Philippines, Peru, South Korea, and the US/Mexico Borderlands. They can also choose to do a virtual YAV year. For more information, email [email protected] or call 1-800-728-7228 x5300. Follow them @yavprogram on social media!

Young Adult Transformation Collective (YATC)

Young adults who become YATC Collaborators work with local site leadership to be placed with a local agency partner– a nonprofit, church, or advocacy group working in the pursuit of peace and justice. Their role at their agency partner is to be a good partner – they aren’t expected to solve the local issues that they face –  they are expected to listen, and learn, and offer their gifts however they can. They will work 30-35 hours a week at an agency partner site. Current collective members provide transformation opportunities in Asheville, NC, Tucson, AZ, Lake Tahoe, NV and Mechanicsville, VA.

YATC Collaborators live in intentional community with other young adults and are provided with housing for the duration of their term of service and a monthly stipend to cover food, transportation, house utilities, and living costs.
