Application deadline: April 12, 2024
The Miller Summer Youth Institute at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and its staff invite applications for its six-week living-learning fellowship program that will take place on the Seminary’s campus.
The fellowship cohort will work with a team of experts from congregations, non-profits, and from across higher education on the program theme. Cohort fellows will also participate in experiential learning at Garfield Community Farm, our community partner for the summer. Students will have ample opportunity to engage in theologically formative activities intersecting with questions of vocational discernment, spiritual practice, and community development.
COMPENSATION
Successful applicants will receive $3,000 for full participation in the program. Room, board, and travel stipends will also be provided. Students who complete the SYI Fellowship for Undergraduates program will also be eligible to apply for additional funding through the Fellowship for Contextual Ministry and Community Research program.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Monday and Tuesday mornings will be dedicated to workshops, with those afternoons dedicated to small group discussion. Wednesdays will be reserved for exploring Pittsburgh, the rich outdoor opportunities in Western Pennsylvania, and the neighborhoods surrounding PTS. Thursdays will be experiential learning days at Garfield Community Farms led by the Rev. John Creasy ’06. Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays will be time off for rejuvenation, worship, and leisure.
